Going to be staying for 7 nights in late October. Any tips on day trips or things to do in area for two adults?

Seven days at the launch of snowbird season? You must be a glutton for punishment!

For the absolute best view of a Florida sunset, check out the rooftop bar/restaurant at the Art Ovation Hotel. You won’t find a better view anywhere else...

Dinner hot spots include Veronica’s, Walt’s Seafood and, if you’re in the mood for some good Cuban, Mirna’s takes the cake! Whatever you do, avoid Marina Jack’s- unless frozen bar food is your thing. Boca is great for lunch as is Tsunami Sushi. Check out Shore on LBK for another amazing water view!

Head down to Venice to hunt for shark teeth or take a day trip down to Naples. Sarasota offers the Ringling Museum (the grounds are spectacular and admission is free on Mondays), Big Cat Habitat, a stellar farmers market, and a Trump rally every 15 minutes! Visit the Pinecraft community for an Amish breakfast at Der Dutchman or Yoder’s. Lots of quirky things to stumble upon around town...

If you are in the mood to sit in traffic with a bunch of Canadians or folks from Ohio, head out to Anna Maria Island or Cocina Beach. Otherwise, save yourself the headache and checkout Lido or Long Boat Key.

Had dinner there last month. Dry Dock was also good. My favorite meal was in Cortez at Swordfish Grill, the town kind of reminded me of Delacroix.

Definitely second the visit to the Ringling Museum.

I've been in October and while more crowded than late summer, its not as bad as November - March.
