My generator is almost 17 years old, I'm looking for another one, between 6,500-9,000 watts. But what I am noticing is that most of the generators I see now have metal gas tanks.
My old Briggs & Statton has a plastic tank, I have had practically zero issues with it, I actually stored gas in it for almost 3 years before I used it for Ida. I do put stabil in the fuel and run the carburetor dry each time I do use it. ANY how, are there any generators out there that have plastic gas tanks anymore? I think metal gas tanks will rust during storage.

on tanks bigger than a certain size EPA now requires metal tanks. They have a vent tube that goes to a carbon canister to catch the vapors. Then the vacuum on the tank draws the vapors back into the system. I have a Champion Model 100110 (11,500 starting, 9,200 running) and it's been great for the last 4 year.

I don't need a new one but I've been looking at the Firman tri-fuel one that costco sells

Other option would be to convert my current one to tri-fuel, but I think money may be better spent upgrading.

One issue with propane or NG is the reduced power ratings, so keep that in mind if you are looking at alternative fuels
