Because they play one decent team every year and the game is played at noon. If they were playing LSU, Alabama, Georgia, etc in prime time, the ratings would be good. The Texas/LSU game had a 190% increase from the previous year in the same time slot. It was also on at the same time as the A&M/Clemson game and had a million more viewers than that game did. It was the 4th highest rated September game in 10 years. One of the higher rated games in September? Texas v Notre Dame a couple years prior
