I think he's just not getting the players he's use to. I've heard he doesnt' put much effort into recruiting at USC.

Well, does that prove that he's lost interest ? South Carolina's fanbase is as passionate as anyone's. Wonderful facilities and they have their share of big donors. Maybe not the Ohio State and Florida level, but few schools do.

South Carolina HS isn't on the level as Florida,Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana's,but its better than West Virginia's and New Jersey's which makes West Virginia's resurgance and Rutgers' emergence which makes South Carolina's continued running in place all the more perplexing.

I heard that Spurrier was never very interested in recruiting at Florida. His basic attitude was that high school football players should want to play at Florida. Maybe he still has that attitude at South Carolina. I don't know.

Also, I think West Virgina and Rutgers's recent success has had a lot to do with the exodus of Boston College, Virginia Tech, and Miami from the Big East to the ACC.
