based on limited studies and anecdotal evidence

The heart is a muscle and can get inflamed for any number of reasons. Of course there is a chance of myocarditis, but this could be caused by the flu or any other virus. We live with this threat on a daily basis. They act as COVID-19 is the only thing that can cause this, literally, this can be caused by drug or a virus or any number of factors. We do not see a rash of 20 something people who have contracted COVID-19 have inflamed hearts.

I mean I have been in literally countless meetings with virologist since this started and it amazes me how many want to be the one to give the definitive diagnosis. Their exuberance to understand and explain what they found about the virus outweighs their knowledge of the actual virus. I have come to realize so much of it is actual conjecture based on a few results.

Every time there is a prediction it is the most dire, most horrible prediction about COVID-19. It is not just football, they make policy based on their dire predictions with little regard for the unforeseen results of those decisions. I can imagine these Pac-12 laypeople sitting a meeting talking about all the dire issues football players can have. Everyone of these doctors are trained to talk in authoritative, confident manner regardless of their actual knowledge. I see it almost everyday, they can be persuasive until you start asking some basic questions.

Sometimes people (or conferences) know the outcome they have wanted all along and just need to find a way to sell it. This risk is not a new discovery.
