Thank you CHEDBALLZ. I am gonna start doing this. I always heard that this approach is better for specs too. Makes the meat stay fresher and taste better.

I use a Rapala electric & a Walmarks $15 electric. Still keep a Rapala fixed blade cause that's what I grew up with way before electric knifes were a thing. The Rapala electric is the most ergonomic between the two powered knives.

Regardless if you ice slurry or throw 'em on a sack of ice, crappie especially are still coming out of the cooler covered in slime
