Hillis was telling the truth as he remembers it and I agree with some of what he says. As far as finding his niche as a player at ARK, well, Jones and McFadden were just flat out better than Peyton. The part of him expecting a 100k or so a year job when he's never coached nor recruited a day in his like, that's not going to happen at any D-1 school especially an SEC school so he can forget that. Peyton, you know, maybe, just maybe if you hadn't 'stuffed' that assistant coach's wife when you were playing for the Bronco's you would have a better reputation. However, much of what he said about Nutt is true.I think Peyton spoke from the heart, but the heart was just a little too bitter for me.

It could very well be true that the University needs to do a better job of relations with former players. That said, there are 80 players on scholarship every single year. There are thousands of former players. They can't all be employed by the football program. And I don't think Hillis has a drop of coaching experience, so to not even be granted an interview sounds reasonable. Also, he was a running back. We already have an RB coach. Seems open and shut.

He had to prove himself to get that scholarship. He had to prove himself to get to the NFL. He has to prove himself to be a coach in the SEC.
