There very well may be. Maybe they brought up that he was a conservative, but it may be the 20th thing they find wrong with him instead of the 1st. My parents point blank said if I married my ex (this was after the break up and she was temporarily playing nice) that they would not show up to the wedding if I got back with her and married her and that she was absolutely never under any circumstances allowed in their house. Her being a Leftist was at #20 on problems they had with her.
