The reason Herschel numbers were so great was because he was all Georgia had he averaged 5.3 yds per carry. But Vince Dooley ran him to death to save his own bacon. 274 times in 1980, 385 in 1981. 335 in 1982.

Auburn had other talent around Bo including Lionel James and Brent Fullwood both great backs in their own right. Bo ran 127 times in 1982. He ran 158 time in 1983, in 1884 he only ran 87 time and in 1985 he ran 278. He averaged 6.6 yds per carry.

Herchel only out ran Bo with most yardage in a single year in 1981 with 1891 yards on 385 attempts which took 108 more attempts to get about 100 yards more than Bo got in 1985 with 1786 on 278 attempts. For you Georgia fans that’s less than 1 yard per carry. Bo also gained more yards in receiving while catching the same number of passses.

Bo was the better back. More yardage less attempts .

And as far as his Track career goes I watched Bo and Lionel James smoke him in 1983 in the 55 meters.
