The thing is, though (and this applies to Sulli's point above your post about Army giving Houston an epic beatdown in the bowl game), having Barry Odom coaching the other side of the ball is crucial.

This offense is going to kick arse. Except when we play LSU or Alabama. Teams like that are going to hold this offense off its average.

What we gotta bank on in those situations is having an equally impressive defense to compliment it.

Barry Odom had Memphis playing defense at a high level. He will do it here too.

The only question in all of this is "will Sam Pittman be up to the challenge of managing a roster and keeping these coordinators stocked with talent?"

If the answer is "yes" then it isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
