How about we just allow a farm system like baseball has and allow players to go to it as they wish whether it by out of high school, or after a year or two in college athletics? Secondly, how about we not penalize a student athlete for entering in the draft and allow them back if they aren’t drafted as high as they wish?

Allows cfb to keep amateur status and players to make money if that’s what they want to do.

"Allow" a farm system? It's already allowed, but obviously the NFL does not think it would be profitable....certainly not as profitable as the free farm system they have now with college ball.

Without going into all the detail, baseball and football just had different historical roots. Baseball really was America's pasttime a century ago, and pro baseball was considered a legitimate trade, so you had plenty of demand for professional players. Football primarily developed as a college sport, and by the time the NFL formed we already had a fan following for the college game.

I would love to see minor league football take hold and leave college football for the amateurs and real students, but that ship has sailed.

The colleges will eventually be forced to allow players to make money, and with that the college game will be destroyed. Maybe THEN we will get minor league football.
