Yes and they never will be.

UGA and GT are so close that GT can’t carve out its own territory. Atlanta is a city of transplants and even if someone valued city pride over everything else, they’ll just follow the Falcons first and foremost.

GT only plays two regional opponents every year- UGA and Clemson. UGA gets to play Auburn, UT, Florida, South Carolina, and GT. People care more about regional games. Even if Pitt is really good, it’s hard to get excited about playing a team that you don’t know a single fan of.

There’s just very little reason to be a fan of GT over UGA.
