So...is that true? Broyles actually fired him on-field after the post game hand shakes, or did he wait until Sunday morning to do it?

I've heard both versions. I would, however, not put it past Frank Broyles to fire someone on the field.

Broyles was a great coach, a gifted administrator, and at one point in time the most powerful person in the state of Arkansas. Even Bill Clinton deferred to the man.

Broyles did, however, have a bit of a control freak thing going on. He would show up to practices when he was the AD with his own playbook and hound the coaches to use his plays. If you were a basketball or football coach you had to put up with Broyles believing, deep in his heart, that he was much better then you.

Which is why you can build a Hall of Fame and fill it with just the coaches that Frank ran off. Hatfield, as an example, was so eager to get away from Broyles he took the Clemson job without ever having seen the campus.
