Four schools pushing the hardest for Texas DL Alfred Collins Sam Spiegelman • Rivals.com

quote:

Soft-spoken Alfred Collins - Rivals has a big game, so it's no wonder suitors are lining up and standing out as the summer approaches.

The talented defensive lineman out of Cedar Creek (Texas) High School named Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas and Texas A&M as the four schools pushing hardest for his commitment at the moment. That quartet of schools has established good relationships with the big-time prospect and are in line for official visits.

Officials are currently being scheduled for June.

Collins broke down the latest in his recruitment with Rivals.
IN HIS OWN WORDS

On Texas: "They're pushing pretty hard. We have a pretty good relationship and I like them. They tell me how big of a priority I am over there and how I'd be taken care of, that I would get what I need. The last time I was there, I was hanging out with a lot of the other recruits and I could tell they all liked it, too."

On Oklahoma: "They love how athletic I am, how I'd fit into their system. I'm in touch with them a lot and they talk to me a lot. They send me motivational stuff. The last visit (in March) was a good visit. I sat in for a practice, which was good. I noticed it was kind of a small campus, homey. The football team was aggressive and I liked that."

On Texas A&M
: "It's a good relationship, but it's been a while since I visited. I missed the spring game, so I need to go up there and hang out with them for a little bit. They have been telling me how good of a fit I'd be there, how they like big defensive ends. They're coming pretty hard and I like how honest they are. They tell you what it is. I asked about playing time and they said I had to work for it and nothing is given."

On Alabama: "It's been good. They have been talking to me about how physical I can be, how athletic I could be. Coach (Jeff) Banks and Coach (Brian) Baker came to practice. They've hit me up once a week and now they're in touch pretty consistently. They loved how aggressive I was and the energy I played with."

On LSU: "LSU has been pushing pretty hard. They came up to my school this spring and we've talked a good amount -- about how the purple and the gold would look good on me and how good of a fit I'd be in their defense, and how my athleticism would stand out in their defense. They said my aggression is a good fit for the SEC."
RIVALS REACTION

Collins is tentatively eyeing official visits to Alabama and Texas in June. He would like to return to Texas A&M in the fall to catch a game and Oklahoma is certain to get the fourth official, but he has no specific dates in mind yet. He's unsure about who'll get the final official visit.

The Cedar Creek defensive end is in no rush to make a decision and instead prefers waiting it out. He wants to keep forging these relationships with coaches and see what's standing out. Collins would also like to make all of his official visits before settling on one school.

Collins is weighing education and a path to the NFL as the two biggest factors.

Collins has frequented Texas' campus most often. His last trip to Oklahoma was in March and A&M in December. He has yet to make it to Tuscaloosa, which will change with an official visit.

Four-star WR EJ Williams breaks finalists, names a leader Chad Simmons • Rivals.com @ChadSimmons_

...Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee made the list.

..."If I had to say a school at the top right now, it would be Alabama," said Williams. "I don't really have a full list of the schools 1-7, but Alabama is on top.

'I have been there about six or seven times, I know how they do things and Alabama is a great program. I had a great conversation with coach Nick Saban last week and we had a great talk about the overall program. Alabama has had a lot of success, they put guys into the NFL and I would have to say they are No. 1 for me right now."

On August 24, in honor of his father's passing, Williams will announce his decision. He will be ready. He has a big summer ahead and that will help him make that decision.

"The summer is important to me. I have some important visits to take and I will keep talking to coaches trying to get my mind made up.

"I know for sure I will be committing August 24 and once I commit, I am done with recruiting. I will not visit other schools or anything like that. I will know for sure where I want to go on August 24."
