KN put up an insider this morning. Quick summary

- DL is always important each cycle but doubly so this go around with Derrick Brown & Marlon Davidson set to graduate plus Nick Coe NFL Draft eligible. KN gave a quick run down on three top targets

3* Damarjhe Lewis --> Flirting with lots of schools but was back in AU Saturday & stayed the night. Continues to say he's firm to AU. AU likes him a lot more than his rating

4* Will Anderson --> At one point had AU as his leader but now says they are in top group with FSU & Bama. Apparently tho AU might be the team to beat and told another recruit while on campus Saturday AU was his top team still

5* Myles Murphy --> AU feels it's a 3 team battle for Murphy between AU/CLEM/UGA. Mom is UGA grad but sounds like that won't factor into the decision. AU thinks Murphy is a perfect fit both on & off field. Garner is close with him & his family. AU believes they are a legit threat in this race

- 4* QB Haynes King is AU's top target at QB this cycle. AU was in on him early when he wasn't as heralded but now he's getting attention from everyone. There is concern will be hard to land him with Nix having come in last class. Apparently staff is working quietly on some other targets but aren't giving out much info on them in order to not alert other staffs. KN thinks it's very doubtful Robby Ashford lands with AU right now

- AU is off to a strong start at LB. They have roughly 3 spots left in the class at LB & KN ran down the top targets

5* Justin Flowe --> Plans to return to AU & could use an OV to Plains. AU recruiting hard with Gus Malzahn personally involved

4* Demouy Kennedy --> Longtime AU commit but is being chased by plenty other top schools. AU trying to get him back on campus soon

4* Jayion McCluster --> FSU leads but AU #2 & apparently had a really good visit this past weekend

4* Cameron Riley --> AU in top grou p with MSST. BAMA recruiting but no offer yet

4* Noah Sewell --> Might visit AU

4* Trenton Simpson --> Visited this past weekend & AU hoping it earned them an OV

4* Phillip Webb --> AU in top group with CLEM, BAMA & UGA. He was back on campus this past weekend

3* Desmond Tisdol --> AU leads with SCAR chasing

3* Rodney Groce --> AU leads with MSST/OM chasing

Auburn takes lead for JUCO linebacker (Rivals)
quote:

AUBURN | Auburn has moved to the top of the list for junior college linebacker Tyrus Wheat.

Wheat, from Copiah-Lincoln in Wesson, Miss., named the Tigers his leader following a visit on Saturday.

“Auburn would be my top school right now,” Wheat said. “It feels like home and they treat people well. It was my first time here and it was nice. My girlfriend, mom and grandma came with me and they treated us well. Everything went good. I liked it.”

Wheat spent time with area recruiter Marcus Woodson and linebackers coach Travis Williams.

“Both are recruiting me and both are nice people,” Wheat said. “They treated me like I’m their son today.”

Wheat, who is 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, played safety his freshman season at Copiah-Lincoln, but will move to outside linebacker as a sophomore. Outside linebacker is the position Auburn is recruiting him to play.

Wheat, who committed to Missouri out of Amite (La.) High School in 2017 but failed to qualify, has offers from Auburn, South Carolina and Kentucky.

He lists Auburn No. 1 followed by South Carolina.

“It’s pretty close (between Auburn and South Carolina),” Wheat said. “I haven’t been to South Carolina, but Auburn treated me like I go here already.”

Wheat plans to make a commitment by the end of the summer. He will return to Auburn for an official visit in the summer, and also will visit South Carolina June 7-9.

Wheat is on pace to graduate from Copiah-Lincoln in December. He will have three years to play two at his next stop.

In 10 games last season as a freshman, Wheat had 65 total tackles, 37 solos and two interceptions.
