Gus at Auburn is like Houston Nutt

There is something to be said for this.

Nutt was a master of doing ok, bad year, doing ok, then having a great year to get a new contract and cool the heat.

As for Auburn over the history of their program... Alabama squatting on their prime recruiting grounds probably doesn't help matters any.

Ohio, as an example, churns out a lot of football talent each year. But the various smaller schools in that state, while they have good seasons here and there, can't extend that success because they have Ohio State gobbling up most of the best recruits.

To make matters worse any given year there will be 2 or 3 good SEC West teams not named Auburn (sometimes more) they have to play and then there is their Eastern schedule where they draw a very consistent Georgia every year.

As I said before the season started a good Auburn team can easily go 8-4 with this schedule or worse.
