Something interesting from Saturday night

Something I found interesting during the KY game, the announcers said we are a pass first offense. I do have faith in Muschamp, because he has changed his philosophy from UF. There; he was against the pass, relied on the running game, I formation pro set offense, grind it out and give it to the defense to win the game. He isn’t forcing the offense to be geared around the running game. Jake isn’t the decision maker we need in the offense, but like I said in a prior post, this system and scheme is wildly successful and has a ton of potential. Pass, pass, pass, then inside zone to shake it up. With the proper decision making, this is the formula to success for us. We will never have the big hogs on the Oline to be an offense predicated to running an opponent over, finessing them might be our best route, and that’s what we’ve seemed to do under Muschamp. Jake just has to make better decisions or be replaced. The announcer ended that statement about us being passed first by saying: “this offense is predicated on the QB to make quick, smart decisions. If successful, this is a high powered offense, but bad decisions will kill this offense.”

Bad decisions have killed the offense

Jake is a student of the game. He may be too much of a student. He is way too emotional (runs as fast as he can after a TD to jump bump) and that can undo a steady nature that is needed. He throws passes too hard...too short...or too long to equate to the QB is was billed as and should be in his junior year. He may make it in the NFL...but I question that. He is not a good college QB and he was billed as a great college QB. This year is a wash no matter how we finish because we screwed the pooch in the Kentucky and UGA games. There was no progress in those two games in 3 years and you could make a valid argument that we regressed those 3 years.
