Frank's will be one of the best QBs in the SEC.

I know it sounds absurd. But hear me out.

He has the best arm in the SEC. He has perfect size for Mullens style of offense.

Now. This year he will take lumps. Bad ones. I doubt his ability under pressure has improved a ton. Mullen hasn't had a full year of work with him and that will be the toughest part.

Remember this. Mullen has been coaching QBs for a long time. Name the last bad QB product he had on the field for a long time? You can't. Add in, not every one on his long list is as naturally talented as Frank's. See those two slant td passes? Those are strikes few can do in college. His touch is improved some, as seen on a few throws. So the progress is coming.

Now. He won't complete more than 60 percent this year. His mental make up is still fragile so when it rains it pours could easily occur. But understand. He has a real coach now. One proven to build QBs. Raw talent plus good coaching and good additude usually equals a good player. Frank's has all three.

Don't give up on the kid yet. He hasn't even gotten the chance. I for one think he has a high ceiling. Mullen just has to refine the man.

I had an interesting conversation with Otis Yelvington (director of player relations UF) Friday night in the hotel bar. We were both well lubricated, and I said my biggest concern is the QB position and Franks. His comment was “are you born racist or are you taught to be? I said, taught. He said “Felipe just hasn’t been taught to be a QB”. Then with a sly wink he said “a lot of people are going to be very surprised......we’ll be alright”

Dan has made good QB's from less talent than Franks has. Poor kid was just never coached up. I nearly shed a tear when I saw Dan talking to him on the sidelines, going over what happened on the prior play. Then later we saw the dancing Dan. It's gonna be fine

He also said, and I don’t know how much it was the alcohol or coach speak or both, that Mullen has said that he has not worked with another quarterback yet with as much raw talent as Fillepe.

We’re talking about the man that developed Fitzgerald, Tebow and Prescott.
DAMN!

There was no one more angry at Franks than me last year with his total implosion at times. But I knew in the summer he wasn't ready to start game one. Mac & Nuss nearly destroyed this kid. No one can question that arm.

You can tell he had a great upbringing and being positive was in his DNA...it had to be because of last year. Can you imagine what he went through on campus last year? The media stories that ripped him to shreds?

I jumped on his bandwagon in the spring when I learned he had dedicated himself to spending more time than anyone in the film room, the weight room and worked his arse off during summer workouts. He has been quoted as saying I spent an hour longer every day to improve myself.

He has had Jefferson and Grimes as room mates from what I heard and they practiced over and over again the little things. He will put the ball where it should be. The run game he now has is icing on the cake. He is faster than most realize.

And yes, Im very defensive about him now. He has begun to earn the trust...as I knew he would. I disagree with 2008, yes there will be tougher hurdles and he will make a few mistakes as all QBs do...but I think we win in spite of it. Miss State is going to be an all out battle. If somehow we prevail? Look out. Screw next season, lets do it now!

This could truly be my native bias spun up by living the past three years in Oxford, but I don't think Mississippi State will be a huge problem. At some point, MSU returns to the mean, which is around a 5-7 to 7-5 team. I'll be there to eat crow in person if I'm wrong.

There is no tradition in college sports I loathe more than the cowbell.

They have a strong group because of what Mullen left.

No clue how Head will be as a coach though. I do know it's hilarious they all seem to assume he is better than Mullen..with zero real reason. Mullen did more as an OC, and was the best coach in their history. Yet they all think their next coach is even better with no valdiation behind it.

Well, "Head" is now his new nic His claim to fame is being OC at Penn St and having a great RB and a decent QB.

Im more worried about Moo States defense....but thankfully our offense will be rolling by then. ( notice I didn't say should ) On the road mistakes can fire up the crowd and a feeding frenzy results. Our special teams need to make sure we have decent starting field position. I think Mullen will tone down the offense early to avoid turnovers and we pound the ball and wait for our defense to create mistakes. Oh, there will be a few bombs to show we can heave it to keep them backed up. Screens, draws and quick passes will be the staple along with hard nose SEC toe to toe fighting.

Mullen knows the players at MSU and will use it to his advantage. Their staff left with Mullen so they don't have the same advantage.

Very little was about the game.

It's basic sense. Mullen elite QB mind.

Frank's elite QB tools needing coaching.

He has what can't be coached. Size and arm.

He needs a real coach. He has it. You may doubt Mullen..but anyone with sense doesn't. He doesn't have bad QBs. Simple as that

I'd bet an avatar bet

End of the year we put up a simple thread.

Does Frank's look like a good QB now.

If more upvotes I win, down votes you win.

Deal?

Nah, I'm good with my girlfriend where she is.

Again, let's wait until we play an actual team (MSST) as I had said before. We played a team we outclassed at every single position, the pocket was clean and he looked much better.

MSST (hardest team on the schedule), Georgia, FSU/LSU might be a different story.

I will say that it really plays out well for him for the schedule.

Charleston Southern
Kentucky
Colorado State

--These three games are all tune-up games, which he can obviously learn the offense against increasingly more difficult opponents starting with the weakest and moving his way up to the second tier.

Tennessee

--His first away game against a team that is clearly not ready for this year, and is still at least a year away from being fixed. It will be loud, but Mullen is lightyears ahead of Pruitt in every way.

MSST

--The toughest game, but we have a tune-up game in a very hostile environment the week before so Franks' best game should be this one. Everyone knows their positions, the roles are fleshed out, everything should be locked, cocked and ready to rock.

LSU

--We are gonna kill LSU, this will be Mullen's statement game. He's not inviting everyone along with all of the other festivities on this date.

Vanderbilt

--We outclass them in every position, and it should be a good, relaxed game we can use to take an extra week that we can add on top of the bye week to...

Georgia

--The second toughest opponent this year. Franks threw better than Fromm, Pierce ran better than any of their running backs and our defense had: more sacks (3-0), tackles for loss (8-3), total tackles (26-23) group tackles* (70-59), passes defended (3-0) and QB Hurries (8-0). If we can beat MSST and Georgia, we will go undefeated. We're lucky to have two tune-up weeks before Georgia.

*Shows that our defense is more of a swarming team.

After that we have Mizzou and SC at home.

--Should be quiet for him and the home field will help quite a bit.

Then we have Idaho (FCS)

--Again, a great tune up game before we go to...

FSU

--By this time, Franks should be developed, and the schedule should have given us an idea on how to be successful. It will be interesting to see how well FSU does tonight, because if they're bad, we'll take back the State and end their streak no sweat.

So, he has the schedule to show out, but will he revert when the pressure comes? Only time will tell.

You aren't following this.

This is about what will happen, not what has.

He needs work, no one claimed other wise. Im using prediction on Mullens past success with MUCH less talent, to say I think he does the same with Frank's.

Forget the CSU game. This is about will he be a very good QB under the best QB coach in the conference? Noting he has the best cannon in the conference as well.

You're not following this: We have to wait until he plays a real team.

I'm saying he has a very good chance of being successful this year, in fact, if he can't he should probably switch positions.

He has prep weeks before the big games, and the toughest games outside of MSST and FSU are all home games or neutral. If there was ever a year he should be succesful, it would be this one.

But he's not going to be the best QB in the SEC next year, because Tua's still going to be around.

Never said best. Said top tier. Big difference. Tua is also going to throw a lot of picks. If UofL had even remotely decent Dbs he threw three picks in the first half. He is fun as hell to watch though for sure.

If anyone can do it it’s mullen given his track record but it bothers me and is a borderline jinx to be talking about this after 1 game against a bad fcs team.
