Bama was 12-0 and #1 heading into the SECCG in 2008. Hard fought loss to UF knocked them out of the natty game in December. Had Bama had that same loss in week 2, good chance they make the natty game. So it has happened to Bama and Saban before. That said, I don't have an issue with the playoff system like Saban does. I think the 4 team playoff is pretty awesome and has doubled the slots for teams to get a shot at it. Heck, 2008 Bama may have made the playoffs had it existed back then. 2013 Bama likely does as well.
