The only truth is that without working your way in to being selected in the top four there is no opportunity to play for the championship. Once you get in then yes it has its own set of difficulty factors, but you don't even get to consider those without the most important aspect of the system of being one of the four. Those two parts are not equal in difficulty because you just need to overcome 2 teams instead of 13 (for those that play for the league championship)
