Because the NFL is retarded.
I really haven't paid much attention to it in years. They have no moral backbone, which wouldn't be a big deal to me, except that they do so much bullshite only for the appearance of doing something and being PR, which is the real source of their lack of a moral backbone.
I can't remember the last time I saw the NFL make a decision based on common sense rather than PR.
I'll watch games if it's on and I'm not busy with other shite, but it's nothing like college football where I make sure every Saturday is free so I can take it all in.

Not that I agree with the law but the rifle was illegal in California. The DA did him a solid by letting him plead no contest to the misdemeanor instead of pushing the felony.
Reuben was also arrested for mary jane in Alabama before the Cali stuff.
The gun's probably a NFL personal conduct violation and the MJ is a substance policy violation. All in all, two games is pretty light. The fact that Cali was a setup probably weighed heavily in his favor. If he's smart he will take it all as a life lesson and not make the same mistakes again.
