LSU is in the same situation that AU was in last year by the third game of the season. Lindsey really didn't know what he had or how to use it. This years Offense should be more consistent and get off to an early start. This is Gus first time having a proven passing QB returning. I saw the situation Ensminger was in at AU in 2003. By midseason he had them playing well, but they started poorly.

In September of 2003 Ensminger had been on campus at AU for less than a year, and was the QB coach.

This September Ensminger will have been at LSU for 8 years, with some interim OC under his belt.

I think he has a better idea of what he has to work with this year at LSU than he did at AU in 2003. It's a totally different situation.
