As for AJ, if he just doesn't go Brock Osweiler Trainwreck, he bought himself a lifetime of veteran backup QB $ contracts. He can afford to keep Katherine Webb around

being a career backup is a pretty great gig. Make a couple million a year or more and never have to worry about getting injured. Josh McCown is a great example. Guy is entering his 16th year in the league and has only started 73 career games with 8 different teams. And if he isn't cut during the season this year, he will have earned $42 million over the course of his career. Sounds like a pretty awesome life

I think the Detmer brothers would agree. They are the poster boys for career backup QB status

Ty played 14 seasons on multiple teams and only got 25 starts. He only played in 54 games.

Koy spent a decade on the Eagles active roster and only got 5 starts. Although, he played in almost twice as many games as big brother (103), which I imagine is likely due to his placeholder duties.

Either way, not a bad gig, as you said. Especially for a couple of 6 foot tall, sub-200 lb, non-dual threat QBs. Both got paid for a long time and get full NFL retirement benefits with extra perks for playing beyond 10 years.
