This is revisionist history brought about by wishful projection onto future circumstances.

Even without Saban's tenure, Alabama still has more SEC titles than any other school in this conference (by a lot) and more national titles than any other school in this conference (by a lot).

Mike freaking DuBose, Mike Shula, and Dennis Franchione all had 10 win seasons while at Bama. So did Bill Curry. So did Ray Perkins. We know Stallings had multiple 10+ win seasons, an SEC title, and a National Title.

Every coach at Bama from Bear Bryant through Nick Saban has had at least one 10 win season in his tenure. Even our horrible arse coaches have shown Bama can be successful.

You assume after Saban retires that Bama will hire some slack jaw coach. There is no good ole boy who use to play for Bear as AD. Byrne is widely considered one of the top ADs in the country. He'll make the hire and it will either be Dabo or some other top level coach who wants to make $6M+ to coach a roster that will be stacked with Saban players.

Bama will manage to still be a top 10 program in the country. Appreciate your interest in the program.
