Instead of doing their due diligence hiring new coaches, programs went for gurus, clown shows, and Saban clones.
Butch Jones is a clown. How can you conduct a nationwide search with interviews and come up with thinking he is the best man out there? Its kinda sad that a rich tradition of UT football has been tarnished by a decade of inept coaching hires.
Malzahn is just stubborn. I dont think he is a bad coach, he just refuses to believe that his system no longer works. In that regard I guess he is a bad coach.
The LSU coaching search last season was truly baffling. Miles had to go for sure, but hold a legitimate coaching search. If you have to interview 25 coaches do so. Hell go snatch Paul Johnson at GT or find the best FCS coach out there that has proven he can develop players.
McElwain was too unproven. Let him coach 4+ years at Colorado State and see what he could do.
There are solid coaches out there that get overlooked because they werent "fasttracked" to success. It may require more work to find these guys and interview them rather than just going after flashy names who rode coattails to success but youll be better in the long run.

Love to see Paul Johnson hired in the SEC...anything to get him at that deadly triple option out of the ACC...he's a no- nonsense genius and wins everywhere he's been with limited talent.
