Ground hog max bent my receiver hitch up in to the rear differential on my Polaris ranger. I will never use it again. I have been using a pull behind since with no problems. a buddy has been using my ground hog on his grizzly 4 wheeler with no issues. Maybe it's a better hitch or less weight?

The groundhog works but you need a big bike, like bigger than a foreman. The Foreman will pull it but it heats up quick and run the risk of bending s*** up.

Probably a combination of the two. My buddy had the same issue with the factory hitch on a Yamaha wolverine. Got a beefed up one and no issues since.
That Ranger has a lot of arse behind it, and the factory receiver wasn't made for that type of downward force.
