I think they would do a lot better to swing for the fences with someone who is new and who will basically INVENT an attitude and an approach for the school.


Look at Florida before Steve Spurrier, LSU before Nick Saban, Clemson before Dabo Swinney, Oregon before Mike Bellotti, TCU before Gary Patterson, and Navy before Paul Johnson as examples.

I'm disregarding your Harbaugh example because Bill Walsh was Stanford's coach for a while.

Mike Sherman was gone regardless of whether or not he beat Texas. He publicly spoke out against the SEC move after it happened. So did Bill Byrne. You can't have the head coach and athletic director undermining the university president and chancellor and expect to start right.
