The average joe with a clean record gets to plead this down to public intoxication so Hand should come out fine.

So he pleads down does it mean he shouldnt get disciplined by Saban for the initial offense? So a parent should punish his child for what they did or what the plea to??

Ive never agreed with the ability to get a dui for sleeping it off, but thats for the people to change the laws at this point.

He should get disciplined for what he actually did. He was sleeping off his drunkenness in his car instead of driving. So, no. I wouldn't expect much of a punishment.

That would be up to Saban. If it were me, punishment would be based on what he actually did and the circumstances involved in the incident instead of either the formal charge or the final disposition. In this case since he was in a running car that he could have been intending to drive, I would make the punishment would be worse than if he got a PI because he was staggering down the sidewalk but far less than if he'd gotten a DUI while actually operating the vehicle.
