So if a crime is committed, like a bank robbery, but the robber was careful as to not leave any evidence and not get caught, the bank robbery didn't happen?

If someone said someone robbed a bank and nothing was taken from the bank which is proved by accountants and video footage, then no, no crime will be charged.
