The wishbone was completely different. It took advantage of slow defenses. To stop the rpo you need someone disrupting in the backfield almost every play. You can't scheme against it.

That is a good point. I remember Nick Fairley totally disrupting Oregon's offense in the Auburn championship game.

But that stops every offense honestly.
