Sure, 75% percent of his pay is a fraction, and unusually large fraction for someone who both broke rules, and lied to his employer. If you think he would have been able to take Bama to court and win, then you are sadly mistaken. That narrative doesn't make sense whether it's yours or mine.

You're incorrectly assuming he had 1 year left on his contract. He did not, therefore, $317K is a fraction of what he was owed.
