Heavy sled workouts, weighted balls and tweaks in mechanics is what Wes is known for along with implementing technology.

Pitchers being worn out before they get to college due to specialization is the main factor.

We've had freshmen in the fall that had to rest for 2 weeks to a month before getting on a program because the arm was taxed from HS playoff run plus summer ball.

It is unfortunate but TJ and arm injuries aren't going away any time soon unless things change below the college level.

Wes Johnson works on improving the pitcher's velocity. Strengthening the arm and legs does not cause the injury. It's throwing too many curve balls over several years.

Hawgeye posted some stats on another thread that shows Arkansas and MSU leading the conference in pitching Ks. That is the plan.

We aren't new to this. State recruits the same kind of players that every other team not named Alabama and Tennessee recruit in baseball. All of these players at all schools came up through select or travel ball. This isn't a Mississippi State problem. It's a Wes Johnson problem.
