yeah, didn't run the Mizzou numbers but Arkansas nearly triples Bama in every major category.
The numbers here are historical ranking points in the AP poll.
That metric is limited as it does not consider NCAA titles, Final Fours ect and those are, ultimately, what everyone wants to achieve.
In that regard Arkansas is clearly a step above Alabama historically and most would also trade LSU's final fours and superstar alumni in their feast or famine past for Alabama's steady history.
However, instead of simply saying "this ranking doesn't show what it was not intended to show", there is something interesting to glean about what it does show.
Regarding Alabama, it reveals that the basketball program has been consistently pretty damn good over the long term to compile so many AP ranking points --during periods when southern, like western, teams probably got less poll consideration than those in the east and midwest as well-- and has done without many high point seasons of being ranked in the top 5.
Probably also means that the program has really underachieved historically on the biggest stage since even sheer luck would say that if a program has that many Top25 teams the odds are fairly low that a couple don't win a few more games in the tourney.
