If you don't think that two AA coaches in a row (one who pressed and another who didn't teach defense) didn't impact us hiring a white farm boy who was "going to teach the fundamentals of the game,"

Both ran out of town on their own accord but for different reasons and we both know what those reasons are.

BUT if Haith had actually recruited & signed HIGH SCHOOL players with some talent AND was an honest broker he'd still be in CoMo.

When they hired Kim, folks weren't exactly lining up to take the job. Now they may have had a good chance at hiring an up-and-comer mid-major (which would probably have been the right hire in hindsight), but I don't think there were any established high-major coaches that were willing to take on this mess. Couldn't pay Marshall enough, C. Martin had just taken a different job and couldn't hire someone like Howland/Sampson because of the NCAA baggage. I don't think he was their best option, but they didn't have markedly better options.

Today, the roster is solidified (it's not great but I think they've recruited well enough that they'll at least provide depth in years 2 and 3 of the next guy that comes in with higher ceiling players) and they're at least talking about poaching someone from another high-major program.

I think he was essentially right in that his job turned out to be the guy who was supposed to make the program healthy enough, roster-wise, reputation-wise with the NCAA, to hire someone better in a few years. And he did that. Turned out he was not the guy to take it to the next level, but I really do think the program is in better shape than it was when he got here.

To take my crappy analogies to the next level, in Haith's last year I think the tree had tons of green leaves but the roots were rotting; now I think it's the opposite. Yeah, all the leaves have fallen off the tree and it looks like garbage, but the roots are solid and here very soon, with the right guy at the helm, the damn thing may actually start growing again.
