The issue is that UNC has been entirely proven to have allowed a completely fraudulent educational program (primarily) geared at athletes for nearly 15-20 years, even though other students benefitted during that time. If they are allowed to slide for their transgressions then the NCAA loses all legitimacy in my eyes. Instead of paying players all you would have to do is promise them 1-3 years of fake classes.

You guys don't even get why UNC was "let off"

They self imposed penalties
The NCAA can't tell a school what they have to offer--which is why it's not a big deal. It's tutors writing papers deal investigation now. Why is that? Because UNC proved the classes were offered to everyone.
They fired the HC and the assistant involved

Don't forget louisville. A freaking book published about extra benefits, coach hiring strippers, etc. And pretty much one year postseason ban and a reduction in scholarships.
