This is very true.
I'm very happy, but I can't say I'm any happier than I was in medical school (negative income) or residency (piddling income). I know a lot of miserable doctors making bank and a lot of happy nurses/technologists/etc who make a fraction of their income.
If you feel the need to brag about your income, you're probably not that happy.
