It was around this time last year that Alabama handed an offer to four-star quarterback and Kentucky commit Mac Jones. Not two months later did the Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles product flip his commitment to the Crimson Tide eventually signing with the program as a part of a two-quarterback class.

Fast foward to the 2018 cycle, and Alabama is once again without a quarterback commitment in its class at this stage in the spring, but its pursuit of one of the nation's top dual-threat signal callers got a little bit easier on Monday, when another Kentucky quarterback commit with a Tide offer backed off his longtime pledge to Mark Stoops and staff.

Jarren Williams, a three-star product of Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett, is back on the market after seeing a number of new offers come his way this spring, including the Crimson Tide.

At 6-foot-2, 206 pounds, Williams is rated the No. 17 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 500 overall player in the class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Alabama has tested the waters with a number of quarterbacks this spring, getting a few on campus including four-star Tanner McKee and five-star Ohio State commit Emory Jones.

With the evaluation period underway, and the Alabama staff set to hit the road later this week, expect the pursuit of a quarterback to narrow down.
