How about giving an award to the BEST player in the country based on performance instead of popularity or amount of campaigning by a university to voters who don't get to see every player play?
How about considering a player who played both ways (Gordy Lockbaum who played RB and DB at Holy Cross and was great at both) at a small school that doesn't get the notariety that others do.
