Nobody other than aggy is going to down vote TEXAS coming into the SEC. Get real.

Texas A&M
Missouri
Arkansas

That's 3 automatic no votes. If the one state one team group sticks to the plan, you can also add

Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina

That's half the conference already voting no.

Ole Miss hasn't forgotten the bullshite that happened in 2013 either. That's 8.

If you assume that there is any solidarity between the land-grant colleges, you can add

Mississippi State
LSU
Auburn

to the list as well. That's now 11 out of 14 schools that would say no. Alabama doesn't really care and Vanderbilt doesn't like disruption (which is why they were the one potential "no" vote to A&M's entrance).

I can really only see Tennessee voting yes.

I'm sure Alabama enjoys being the biggest power player in the conference. Why would they want a rich power hungry maniac competing?

Lots of focus on the "no" votes but that's only 1/3rd of why it will never happen.

Texas will never want to come to the SEC because they see the SEC as beneath them. They have always looked down on the SEC in terms of culture and academics and that isn't changing. They won't want to follow A&M either, they could not handle that. They also don't really want to be in a Conference with that many good teams which makes for too difficult of a schedule. Most of all the concept of being "equal" to other schools is foreign to them, they truly believe they are better than everyone else and should be treated as such. Folks in the SEC just think Bama runs things, Texas leaves no doubt when they are in a conference that you must kiss their ring.

The second reason not discussed is the politics of leaving. As long as Texas stays in the Big 12 then it is viable and thus it supports Tech, TCU, and Baylor. Texas simply can't take on all of those schools politically and screw them without severe consequences. Ironically there is only one way they could pull it off, to get the full throated support of A&M and its considerable political capital. If A&M is neutral, much less opposes Texas going to the SEC it simply isn't possible politically. Imagine if Ole Miss were to leave for another conference and then force State into the Sun Belt, only it is State plus 2 other Mississippi schools that would get screwed. No Power 5 would take Tech, Baylor, or TCU as a stand alone. Ever. They would only take them as a package deal and maybe not even then.

One last thought on the actual votes. In truth it wouldn't take 4 schools opposing Texas it would just take 1. There is no way the SEC would do it if one of the schools was truly and bitterly opposed to it. That's just not how the SEC operates or at least I have not ever seen it do so.

Personally if Texas were to come to the SEC there are worse things for A&M. We are big and strong enough now to be fine. The circumstances that would make Texas come to the SEC would make them effectively neutered just like their steer mascot.
