here's this bizarre thing going on in the Florida Fanbase, that after the Vanderbilt game he should be fired. I think it's absolutely bat shite insane, but, I admit I could be wrong. What do people outside the fanbase think?

Honestly I think it is very hard to find top quality assistants. And when you come from a major program that's had a high level of success, all those guys bounce to bigger better jobs. If he can create what he has learned under Saban in a 60% or better capacity, he will be a great coach. If not, he's just another Muschamp.

Recruiting in Florida will be easy once he gets it rolling, he is great at developing qb's and i think will have good success in the future.

I am in the camp that he should have never been hired at UF in the first place. McElwain had 3 years as a coach and Foley decides to hire him at UF? Foley made the same mistake with Zook and Muschamp. Hiring guys that did not have the required years of experience. Is McElwain proven as a Head Coach? Nope. UF should not be on the job training, especially for football.

Let me ask an honest question. If Butterteeth was sitting in your living room with another SEC head coach trying to recruit you. Who would you decide to follow? I can only think of 1 or 2 coaches in the SEC I would put behind McElwain. He's going to get beat out in 90% of the cases. Which is why Urban Meyer, Jimbo, Richt, Saban, Malzahn, Harbaugh, etc., are beating him in his own backyard. Kids that grew up Gators are going elsewhere. And spare me the excuse that he's only had 2 years. Richt, Harbaugh and even Muschamp didn't take long to get recruits excited. McElwain is a Gomer Pyle type that is not very motivating in my opinion.
