You can't get in trouble for lawfully having a gun on your person. I have 3 known friends/relatives that have drawn/used their carry firearm in the past 2 years which has arguably saved their lives and at the very least their possessions. Is it likely to happen? No, not in most situations. But there is nothing wrong with carrying a gun to protect yourself.
