I think having Etling at QB is going to make a difference in how well the Oline performs. Not because they want to play harder for him, but because of his command of the huddle. When Harris plays, it takes him longer to get the play in from the sideline and too often we break the huddle and get to the line with only 2 or 3 seconds on the play clock. I think that confusion affected Pocic's ability to get the blocking assignments called out.
When Etling came in, he was getting the play from the sideline quicker and breaking the huddle with a lot more time on the play clock which resulted in the blocking assignments being called out sooner so the line had time to listen/adjust and make the correct blocks.I may be completely wrong, (maybe it was just a lesser opponent) but I think not being rushed to snap it due to a dwindling play clock helps calm the line and gives them more time to figure out what they are supposed to be doing on each individual play and that showed in the line play vs. Jax St. as it seemed to pass block better than it did vs Wisconsin.
