After rewatching the game today, here is my amateur analysis

1. It was nice to see our receivers actually go up and fight for the ball. I think we all agree Dobbs has not gotten much help from them in the past and this was nice to see out of Malone and Jennings.
2. Jack Jones needs to be in the lineup. Period. The OL got whipped in embarrassing fashion on the first 3 series of the game. Jones comes in at RG, Weisman shifts to center and boom. 7 yard run to the right by Hurd, which was the first time he had any room all game. The next play was a 40 yard run by Dobbs to Jones' side again with a hole big enough to drive a car through. Nice pass protection later in the drive on the bomb to Malone.
3. Shy Tuttle is a grown arse man and our 2nd best DL behind Barnett. He is a game changer up the middle and has a great motor. I still can't believe the speed and hustle his 300 pound arse had on the fumble recovery.
4. The defense, especially the DL, looked extremely good after that awful first quarter. Flying to the ball, dominating the LOS and constant pressure on the quarterback. VT had 203 total yards after the first quarter but only had 187 yards in the final 45 minutes. Yes, we got a couple of gift but I counted 3 fumbles that were forced because the defense was aggressively ripping at the football.
Im not sure what adjustments were made after the first quarter or if the defense was just asleep but we can not afford to have slow starts like this in SEC play.
5. Offensive play calling needs to be more aggressive before we get down two touchdowns. I understand that shitty OL play has been the biggest issue but Debord is painfully predictable until he's forced to switch it up.
6. Let's hope Darrin Kirkland will be ready to go against Florida or Georgia at the latest. Colton Jumper is a massive liability and everyone knows it. Fuente went right at Jumper with the play action to the h-back as soon as he came in. He's an even bigger liability in run defense imo. Anytime a RB breaks a big gain when 53 is in the game, the hole will be where Jumper was supposed to be and you can bet he either a) got swallowed up in the fray at the line or b) he whiffed badly on the tackle. He just physically cannot play at this level.
Tl;dr I know. Just had some free time on my hands. GBO

Jack Jones is the meanest OL we have had in a while.

Tuttle and O'Brien have to be the two starters at DT

Those two were dominating when they were in the game together. Kahlil and Vickers were solid as well imo.
I wouldn't mind Latroy Lewis seeing less playing time in favor of Vereen and Kongbo.

Yeah, was talking with some fellow VOLS after the game and the consensus seemed to be that most think it's a blessing that Lewis is injured, don't think he's good enough to warrant playing over some of the other talent we have.

Good assessment imo.
Jones absolutely has to be in at G. It will be huge to get Hall back as well and I think the line will be pretty damn good when that happens. I re-watched a little bit earlier and there were many combinations on the line. I think Kendrick will land at LG when Hall gets back.
Love Tuttle. Our interior D line looked pretty damn good. Tuttle and McKenzie also looked good together.
Completely agree that Debord HAS to open it up a little bit. I am sure we will see Hurd and Kamara in the backfield for UF. I bet we will start seeing some more fly sweep and pre-snap motion as well.
Jumper fricking sucks.

I would like to see Boulware, Wiseman, and Jones get some series as a group.

Getting Hall back will be huge imo. I will say this about Richmond, as bad as he looked early in the game, he settled down very nicely in the second half and was pretty solid afterwards. I think he will be fine moving forward as the speed of the game slows down for him. I'm much more concerned about multi year starters like Robertson and Thomas still looking like shite.
When Hall gets back, I'd love to see how a lineup of Richmond/Kendrick/Weisman/Jones/Hall looks

Another thing I noticed upon further review, I feel like Debord is teeing up future defenses for a deep ball after all these screens and dump offs to Kamara in the flat.
It was there multiple times Saturday night and Dobbs did not let it fly.
