Seriously though, how good was John Vaught? Absolutely dominant in a strong SEC and the Rebs scratched and clawed just to be average before and after him. I don't think he gets enough credit among the pantheon of great CFB coaches.

Not gonna question Coach Vaught's legacy, but I doubt it's completely irrelevant that OM's best period somewhat overlaps the worst periods for five of the conference's more dominant programs.
