Funniest part of the whole thing is that the only part of Gus's offense that Nutt actually incorporated, WERE the gimmick plays.

And then he tried to pass it all off as his own.

I've got no dog in any part of that fight. I wanted Nutt fired before I'd ever heard of Gus Malzahn (I was in Kentucky/Tennessee/Minnesota during the years Gus was a high school coach, so I wasn't keeping up with anything in regard to HS football back home)

But I couldn't stand Gus from the start because he was whining to local media from day one or before day one (Dec 2005) about being "mistreated" and literally whining to buddies who whined for him on message boards. It was ridiculous. So whatever Reggie Herring said didn't bother me a bit.

I've gone against the public spin that "Nutt took the offense away around the SEC champs game" and folks ask me what's my angle for saying that. I don't have an angle. It was taken away at halftime of game four. Fact. No angle. No spin for or against when Mitch Mustain was the starter, etc.. We had DMAC, Felix Jones and Peyton Hillis, and with that, the disaster Southern Cal game, then Utah State and Vandy almost beat us as we could not score points. That was all on Gus. His ego was in charge of our offense, and Nutt finally jerked it away from him.
