They represent the two biggest oddities in BCS history. The only two loss participant/champion in 2007 and the only regular season rematch in 2011. They are related in that both were atypical years, but the winner of the game ultimately proved they deserved to be there and that they were, in fact, the best team in the country.
Some questioned if LSU deserved to be there in 2007, but they were up on OSU by 21 very late in that game and removed all doubt that they were the best team in the country by the way they dominated the scoreboard.
