I disagree about them being "sparsely populated even during big games" because I've been to most of the big games lately. They mainly only have a lot of empties during the non-conference crap games.

Rather than remove capacity, those sections should just be cheap, like $20 per game. Advertise them as cheap and you'll sell some as season tickets.
