this is correct. and if there are no criminal charges filed then there is really no reason to disqualify the kid.

well, they can do what LSU did with Jeremy Hill (team vote, i know). LSU wouldn't allow him on the team his freshman season until his legal issues were settled. This caused him to delay playing for an entire season out of high school. If that's the end result for Simmons, well that's just something he's going to have to take responsibility for and deal with. But I do agree that it's a little difficult to completely cut ties with the kid before he's ever stepped foot on campus without a criminal conviction.

ETA: I still think State will cut ties with him, though. Violence against women is a pretty hot topic right now, and State would face a ton of PR backlash if they don't handle this correctly

The problem with State cutting him, is like others in the past, he will play JUCO and then come back to a D1 school........of which State would probably not be one of the ones he'd go to since they canned him.

Not sure State is willing to give up on him, knowing he one day play against them. Believe they will do what they can to keep him.

On another note, wasn't there some type of rule made that would prevent transfers into the SEC of players with violet crimes histories? If so, would that possibly prevent him from coming into the SEC for a JUCO?

Kid made a terrible choice and I hope he is punished and learns from this.
I also see a lot of hypocritical posters on this site. TSUN mad cause they would still take him but they didn't get him. And any other school would still take him if they could.
Not condoning his actions but people have looked the other way for worse. So give up all the threads TSUN posters. He will be sacking your qb next year and there is no amount of threads that will stop it.
