Whatever the reason, the fact remains he did turn down the job. Enh, not the end of the world that he did either.

Winning, and winning big, at Houston is one thing. They had a great run last year and capped it off with thumping FSU. They still only played a handful of good teams.

We've seen coaches have one big season at a smaller school and then flame out upon being hired at a major university. USCe is not a turn key football program right now. You won't just walk in the door and rattle off a run to the CFP in your first season.

Its going to be a building process. I'm not sold on Muschamp being the guy to lead USCe to the promised land but he's probably a better hire long term then Herman would be.
