From what I remember of that game, it was a lot worse of a beating than the final 15 point spread.

Our offense actually came alive for a time. We scored first but Florida poured it on in the second quarter. They were up 24-7 at one point before we scored a TD just before halftime. There were moments in the 3rd quarter where we were down 24-21 and 31-28 respectively, but our offense just couldn't keep up with Florida's. It was 45-28 with less than 5 minutes to go. An intentional safety made it a 45-30 final score.

In 1996, our main problem was that we didn't have a QB. Freddie Kitchens was no gunslinger. He had an arm but he lacked accuracy and he made poor decisions with the football. But that was a weakness that was prevalent throughout Stallings's tenure at Alabama. Jay Barker was the best QB we had during that period and he really wasn't the greatest. He could not develop a QB.
